What to do in case of a dental emergency?
Stay calm – In any dental emergency, it’s very important to stay calm! A clear head helps you evaluate the situation accurately and make the best decisions for your dental health.
Get in touch immediately – When faced with a dental emergency, speed is essential. Contact our practice immediately to get advice and arrange for an urgent consultation. We’re ready to provide immediate help and direction!
Ease discomfort and swelling – Before your emergency appointment, you can lessen pain with suitable over-the-counter painkillers. Applying a cold pack to the area can also help to bring down swelling and give some temporary relief.
Practical advice for dental emergencies
Preserve a knocked-out tooth: If a tooth has been knocked out, try to preserve it in a container of milk or a saltwater solution. This can increase the chances of successful reimplantation.
Broken tooth – rinse and protect: In the case of a broken tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to minimise swelling. Cover any sharp tooth fragments to protect your mouth.
Gentle care for toothaches: For persistent toothaches, rinse your mouth with warm water and gently floss to remove any trapped food particles that might be causing pain.
